Where Has My OpenOffice.org Settings Gone?

There are a number of places that the OpenOffice.org settings have been stored on the Mac through the OpenOffice.org 2.X series. A summary of the locations is shown in the table below.

Location of OpenOffice.org settings under Mac OS X
Location First Version Last Version
~/.openoffice.org2/ 2.0.0 2.0.2
~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org 2.0/ 2.0.3 2.0.4
~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org 2.1/ 2.1 2.1
~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org 2.2/ 2.2 2.2

When you upgrade OpenOffice.org, you can simply move your old settings to the new location. In the future, we will move to a location, where the settings will not change until OpenOffice.org 3.0.

Apache OpenOffice is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator. Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
