How can I remove the icons in the Menus?

You can tell OpenOffice.org to not show icons in menus by running through the following procedure:

  1. After starting OpenOffice.org go to the Application Options by either: going to "tools" menu and choose "Options..." or (Aqua only) "OpenOffice.org" menu, choosing "Preferences...".
  2. In the OpenOffice.org options, choose "OpenOffice.org" > "View".
  3. Deselect the option "Show icons in menus" and choose "OK".
  4. Restart OpenOffice.org.

This procedure works for both Aqua and X11 versions.

Apache OpenOffice is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator. Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
