Select a cell range that you want to calculate subtotals for. (The contents in the first row will be regarded as column labels)

Click 'Data-) Subtotals'. And do subtotal on it.

The subtotal result is displayed in hierarchy according to the option specified.

Select another cell range .

Repeat step 2.

The subtotal result is displayed in hierarchy according to the option specified.

Check the layered bar on the left side.

It is shown correctly.

And all the subtotal data ranges can be folded or unfolded by click the button on the layered bar.
