Description mnewnham 2002-11-18 18:15:59 UTC
In a reasonably long document (19 pages) Added a number of lines in numbered
lists that OO assigns as a url eg C:\THIS DIRECTORY\THAT DIRECTORY\ANOTHER LONG
DIRECTORY\A FILE.TXT. Highlighting the URL then using the convert to lower case
produces the following effects.

1. The text is reduced in size, so that the url no longer wraps (correct).

1. The word processor does not see that the document has changed (The save icon
remains greyed out).

2. A small change elsewhere in the document notifies the WP that the document
has changed. Attepmting to save causes the save routine hang 3/4 thru save. Only
way to stop it is to kill open office.

3. Restart open office. Open document. Changes not saved. Eventually document
would not open correctly. Causes wp to either display document then hang,
generate an "soffice has generated an error and will be closed by windows" type
dialog, or an open office "An unrecoverable error has occured, all modified
files have been saved." type error.

4. Problem exists in build 643 as well.

Document is available for analysis if required.

Was able to recover file by creating new document then using
insert->file and selecting the old document. Old document appears
undamaged.

Thank you for using and supporting OOo.

For future reference, one problem per issue.

Which page contains the URL that we should try converting to lowercase
to reproduce your problem ( I am referring to the hanging during save
problem )?

Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, OOo 643.

Select URL "A result code...." on page 13.
Right click
Choose Case/Characters->Lowercase.

This was an issue in older releases ( issue 7608 ) but seems to be
resolved in OOo 643.
Comment 4 mnewnham 2002-11-19 21:52:07 UTC
Sorry, thought this was all the same problem. maybe because document
was created in older version then that was why still had a problem
with 643. Suitable line would be page 12, Item 3 under "installing
verisign software".
Comment 5 prgmgr 2002-11-20 01:21:24 UTC
Thanks for the update.

On page 12, item 3 under heading "Installing Verisign Software" I do
not see a hyperlink/url item in the file you provided.

What is your definition of an URL? Do you just mean a system path?

Unable to duplicate on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643.

1. Go to page 12, item 3 under heading "Installing Verisign
    Software".

2. Select "c:\verisign\payflowpro\win32\perl"

3. Right click on selection

4.  Select Case/Characters->Uppercase.
    Selection goes to uppercase.

5.  Select Case/Characters->Lowercase.
    Selection goes to lowercase.

6. Save file.
    File saves successfully.
Comment 6 mnewnham 2002-11-20 16:52:36 UTC
I described c:\verisign\payflowpro\win32\perl as a URL because when I
created it, OO automatically underlined it and offered it as A hyperlink
Comment 7 prgmgr 2002-11-30 21:55:42 UTC
Thanks for the update.

Unable to duplicate on Win2k server SP3, OOo 643C.

Following procedure I previously listed.

Sure looks like issue 7608. I couldn't reproduce it on ooo1.1beta2
in Linux -- though I can confirm that the lowercase action
doesn't mark the file savable like it should!

I guess I'll change the description of this issue to reflect
the part that isn't fixed.
Comment 9 stefan.baltzer 2003-06-25 13:43:35 UTC
SBA: If people keep on "collecting" various findings within one issue
without writing new issues, we have to focus our efforts on ONE thing
thus disregarding other "And beside that, I found..." at will. A
description with a numbered list always very suspicious...

Feel free to submit ONE issue per issue that you find.

Thank you for your comprehension.

-> Dan: Please don't waste your time with "Marking the part that isn't
fixed yet" stuff. One issue per issue, a title that reflects or
summarizes the findings and that's it.

The community simply has to learn and follow this rule otherwise we'd
get nowhere but have some kind of discussion board within the bug
tracking system.

SBA->OS: So this one is ONLY about the modified flag (as the title
promises). See internal #109817.

SwDoc::TransliterateText() should call a SetModified()
