Description capstone737 2003-11-17 00:09:30 UTC
I have another document that was produced in MS Word 97 and OOo doesn't do a
very good job of opening it.

There are formatting errors in the heading, tables and document length. I will
send a copy of the document with this report.

I can Reproduce the problem on
OpenOffice 1.1 (default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1.
(And MS Office XP Sp2).
It is real problem

text position is not correct, some text is over other text.
table is cutted (in one page).
so the doc is messup in OOo.

I will attach screenshot in word xp.

Two main problems, which lead to the bad layout when opening in OO Writer:
- no rotated text in tables possible (as table property, like it is in
Winword). This will be implemented for OO 2.0. See issue 7058 for this.
Workaround: select the offending table cells and use rotated taxt via
Format.Character.Position (90°).

- Frames/graphics (when anchored to paragraph) in Writer are not
capable of being placed above/below page margins. will also be
implemented for OO 2.0. See issue 11493.
