Sir 
When in an already opened document, the menu File > New and the menu File > Autopilot 
simply do not expand and work. 
It is impossible to create a new document using these menus. 
Also, the toolbar button New does not work too.

This is a known issue and already fixed in build m14s3.8667.
I currently don't know what the next milestone will be nemed (OOo 1.1
RC3? or OOo 1.1) and when it will be available. But this issue won't
appear in the next OOo build anymore.

Workaround is to do a repair.
OOo1.1rc2/program/setup -repair
