Recently I upgraded to the version 1.1beta2. After the Installation I tried to make a new file by 
clicking the "new" button in the tool bar, but it won't work. I also tried it by clicking to file-new 
in the menu - but nothing happened. The same is with the feature "autopilot". There is no 
action done when I clicked to these features.  
I have the german version of OpenOffice, but I discovered the problem as well on the english 
version.

File->New and Autopilot is a critical feature as you understand and
developers will make sure that this works before releasing any OOo
version. The problem you are experiencing seems to be tied to your
computer alone as none of the users (including me) is experiencing
this problem. I will close this issue with WORKSFORME status. Try
reinstalling the product.

I am reopening this issue, to mark it as a duplicate of 17712 to
collect all issue regarding this failure into one place.  I am seeing
this on 1.1RC too running on RH9 linux.

Marking as a duplicate of Issue 17712 which shows that issue is fixed
and workaround.
