Dennis, thank you for using and supporting OOo.

Which version of Linux are you using?

How did you install OOo ( multi-user followed by workstation )?

Does your distribution provide a prepackaged version of OOo? If so,
please uninstall your current version and install the distribution
version and see if the problem still exists.
Comment 3 ddaniels 2002-12-04 05:16:15 UTC
linux: RH8

RH8 comes with OO 1.0.1 installed. It didn't work hence this bug.

I downloaded and installed 1.0.1
see
http://www.dennisgdaniels.com/phpwiki/index.php/installing%20open%20office
for how I installed it.

which has since produced
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=9806

If I need to uninstall 'stuff' please provide the exact commands that
will remove all of the offending OO files and directories.
thank you!

Dennis, it is a known issue that the stock binary provided at
OpenOffice.org does not run on RH 8.0.

Please use the RPMs provided by RH 8.0.

In general, removing the directory where OOo is stored as well as any
.userdb60 and .sversionrc files should work.

Your best option is to post this question and your specifics to the
users mailing list.

/tmp: bash#
wget
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/8.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/openoffice-1.0.1-8.i386.rpm
/tmp: bash# rpm -i open*

Install does not complain: Gnome terminal does:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100374

I had uninstalled OO rpm and OO tar
reinstall OO 1.0.1 via RH rpm is NOT working
Comment 8 prgmgr 2002-12-05 00:49:39 UTC
Dennis, try using the RH CD's, checking the RH site for all the RPM's
that you need or posting a message to the users mailing list.

RH OOo requires more than just one RPM.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide installation support via IZ.

us->prgmgr: I don't know about an "issue that the stock binary
provided at OpenOffice.org does not run on RH 8.0".

us->of: do you have any information on this?

Anyway, the bug states: "RH8 comes with OO 1.0.1 installed. It didn't
work hence this bug."

As already pointed out before: we can not and will not do any support
for any Linux distributor, who packaged OOo. These packages are not
provided by us, thus blame the distributor for any occuring problems.

I suggest to close this issue and file a new one, if the installsets
provided by us do not run on RH.
Comment 11 Olaf Felka 2002-12-06 15:24:44 UTC
I know that we have had problems with config files in old versions.
Current OOo versions (even 1.0.1) don't refer to ~/user/work. I think
this is a problem of the rpm file.
