Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9685
OOo hangs or crashes when number of columns in table is huge
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
I have openoffice 643C installed in my Windows 98 system. To replicate the bug: 1.From the start menu, select programs, openoffice 643C and then text ducument. 2.Select insert table by selecting the table icon on the left side. 3.The dialog box that appears will have 5 in columns and 2 in rows cell. 4.Place the cursor to the right of the 5 in the columns cell and clear it using the backspace key. 5,Then rapidly entertwenty zeros into the cell. 6.Press the OK button. 7.System crashes and ultimately generates three error messages.
I actually entered twenty ones (11111111111111111111) rather than twenty zeros into the columns cell after clearing it.Sorry for the error in the write-up. Raj Narasimmon
Raj, thank you for using and supporting OOo. Duplicated on Win2k server SP3, OOo 643c. OOo hangs and builds an incorrect table if user enters a large value for the number of columns in a table. User summary: SYSTEM CRASHES WHEN HIGH COLUMN VALUES ARE ENTERED

From issue 9648: 1) Insert->Table 2) Enter large number in columns field. 3) Tab to the rows field. 4) Shift + tab back to the columns field 5) Goto end of number in columns field and press backspace. OOo 643c crashes. I'm grouping these table bounds issues together because I think they ultimately should be handled at the dialog box level.
Bounds issue.
