Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8731
Broken file - Server shows all CVS versions simultaneously
Last modified: 2003-12-06 14:52:32 UTC
If you view this website, you see all CVS versions. If we add a new version, it is displayed at the top and all the older versions are under it. It would be very nice if you could fix it as soon as possible.
Reassign issue to owner of selected subcomponent
I commited one file and got the following output. I assume, that the duplication of the content is a result of problems during update of the filesystem space used for the webserver. I would recommend a clean checkout to /local-access-only/de/www. Checking in robots.txt; /cvs/de/www/robots.txt,v <-- robots.txt new revision: 1.2; previous revision: 1.1 done 1 file(s) commited Processing log script arguments... Update into new format. Action Plan: Will test to reproduce and open internal issue if necessary. Timeframe: Will update by the end of the week.
Opened internal issue for this. Action Plan: Drive internal issue. Timeframe: Update by 11/13/02.
This is fixed.
It's fixed for one file (about-documentation.html). But it still exists for other files like about-projects.html. May I ask for a clean checkout of /local-access-only/de/www with all files and subdirectories. Checking in about-documentation.html; /cvs/de/www/about-documentation.html,v <-- about-documentation.html new revision: 1.21; previous revision: 1.20 done 1 file(s) commited Processing log script arguments... This has been taken care of. Closing issue.

Hi, seems we now have a permission problem: Checking in CVS_einfuehrung.html; /cvs/de/www/dev/CVS_einfuehrung.html,v <-- CVS_einfuehrung.html new revision: 2.7; previous revision: 2.6 done 1 file(s) commited Processing log script arguments... action plan: 1) File PCN for engineering/ops to resolve the problem 2) update this IZ when I have an update or the problem is resolved PCN 13269 filed, step 1 complete timeframe: I will update this IZ by 12/04
our operations group reported that nothing appears to be wrong with the filesystem group they asked that the user try to re-check out the 2.6 files or copy, make the same edits and try to check it back in again.
Kenneth, you (or the operations group) have seen, that there is a duplicate issue mentioning other files? This problem still occurs (at least) with changes to the files /cvs/de/www/doc/howto/calc/drucken.html /cvs/de/www/dev/CVS_einfuehrung.html See the error message below: Checking in drucken.html; /cvs/de/www/doc/howto/calc/drucken.html,v <-- drucken.html new revision: 1.14; previous revision: 1.13 done 1 file(s) commited Processing log script arguments... I tried to commit calc.html: http://de.openoffice.org/source/browse/de/www/doc/howto/calc/drucken.html.diff?r1=1.11&r2=1.12 with the result cannot rename file CVS_einfuehrung.html to CVS/,, CVS_einfuehrung.html: Permission denied
update: our engineers are currently researching this problem timeframe: I will update this issue by 12/6/02
this issue is currently in support's queue for the cvs engineers and will be addressed this week. I will update this issue by 11/12/02.
update: I am still awaiting comment from our cvs engineering team. timeframe: I will update this IZ by 12/17/02

The files are getting committed in the commit but there is some directive regarding the filecopy that is at issue. Action Plan: Suggested to the engineers that it seems something akin to a commitinfo file might be at issue. Requested another engineer be queried for additional support on this issue. Timeframe: Update Thursday.
stefan: could you try to commit again and use the -t (trace)? then please paste the output into this IZ as an attachment. Thanks
Created attachment 4116 [details] cvs -t commit output
thanks stefan. our engineers are trying to isolate the problem to the checkout area.
update: our engineers are still researching the problem. I will update this IZ by 1/6/03.
I've asked the engineers for an update on this IZ and will update by 1/8/03
Can anybody speed up this issue? I know, this may be a hard thing to work on ... but we do have several webpages, we cannot update for over 6 Weeks now! I really think of quitting work on the OOo website.
An engineer is currently working on this problem. I hope to have an update today.
Andre - You should be able to commit files using cvs even with this error. There is no disturbance in the actual checkin of the files themselves, at least not in my testing. Please try to commit a single file and confirm its alteration by checking the project's cvs tree via your browser and report your results. Also, please re-assign this issue back to support@openoffice.org when you post your results. The "update aborted" message only occurs because of the failure to copy the CVS_einfuehrung.html file, which seems to be spawned by a 'cvs update' after the commit is run for some reason.
Brian, changes are commited to the repository. But the point is, that the changes to files are *not* visible for users browsing the website de.openoffice.org. An example is http://de.openoffice.org/doc/howto/calc/drucken.html
st is right, for a similar problem (and the commit log) have a look at issue 10123 much worse is Issue 10182: browsing the Website, http://de.openoffice.org/doc/howto/calc/calc_formatieren.html is not found. looking at cvs, http://de.openoffice.org/unbranded-source/browse/~checkout~/de/www/doc/howto/calc/calc_formatieren.html is commited correctly.
Raising priority to P1. Further investigation (or trying the mentioned problems once more) reveals: - adding and changing files to/in the repository works - files added/changed in de/www are updated to the web area - files added/changed in subdirectories are not updated to the webarea For testing I created de/www/testfile.txt de/www/testdir/testfile.txt Support, feel free to play with these files.
acknowledged. I will alert the engineers to the raised priority and added files
The engineers believe they have isolated the problem to a permission conflict with the actual ownership of the files (system root vs SC root). The operations group has made some changes this morning. They ask that you commit the files again to see if the same problem occurs.
I committed again http://de.openoffice.org/dev/neu/doc/setupguide/installations_handbuch.html The changes are visible.
As far as I can see, all webpages seemm to show the most recent version now (even without commiting again). So this is fixed for me.

I'm changing assignment of this issue to ST and considering the permissions issue fixed. Lowering priority as well. It's *possible* that this error can occur again in the future until OOo is upgraded to a newer version of SourceCast in the future. Two things: 1) The update ST mentioned: - files added/changed in subdirectories are not updated to the webarea" Is not the same problem as the original problem. If that's a concern, it should be posted in a new issue. I don't beleive it's an issue either because OOo has made customizations with Collab for the 'staticization' of certain cvs and web pages. Any changes regarding that should be in a new issue also. 2) If the permissions problem happens again, file it in a new issue as well. Thank you
Thanks for the intesive work to resolve this issue. Next time, please mark fixed issues as resolved/fixed. De Project members have verified that the issue is fixed. I will close.

reopen issue - we have the problem again with http://de.openoffice.org/about-lit_zeitsch.html

reassigning to support
I filed an internal issue for the operations group who quickly fixed the file.
verifying.. Any idea why this happened?
thank you for fixing this so fast :)
This issue should be reopened: http://de.openoffice.org/about-lit_hut.html
reopen as requested by martin (http://de.openoffice.org/about-lit_hut.html)
filed internal task to resolve this problem. I will update this issue when the task has been completed. in the future please file a new issue for this type of task. thank you.
this is now fixed
