Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7614
character Position 90º
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
If you choose Format Character Position 90º, the text only is in the first column, when I push the return key, the new line is down and the correct position would be left. I think is possible that the position 90º or 270º is for paragraph and not for words (characters). And if you write in MS Office in vertical direction and open the document with Open Writer, the result is bad. sorry my english, but I am spanish.
FME: Format - Character - Position is _not_ intended to give you a vertical layout. This is only to rotate small portions of text within your general (horizontal) layout. Have a look at OOo 1.0.1, there you have the possibility to switch the page (or text frames) to a vertical layout (first enable the Asian support in Tools - Options - Language settings).

Thanks for posting this issue Guillermo. Thank you for using and supporting OOo. Duplicated on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 1.0.1. Rotate text 90 degrees formatting inside table cell does not import into OOo. Attached simple test case file.

ES->gmolleda: there's no text orientation in cell properties in OOo Writer. Workaround to correct the doc: - in OOo 643 - "Tools - Options - Language settings - Asian language support" -> Enabled - Ok - Format cells over "Format - Character - Position", 90° or 270° ES->MRU: Any other statment?
Vertical text inside table cells is not supported by OO Writer at the moment. The Product Management already has a request for this (see issue #7058). *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 7058 ***
