Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 70414
Page numering offset makes some pages unnumbered.
Last modified: 2006-10-13 20:45:11 UTC
Steps how to reproduce. 1.File->New->TextDocument (creates new document in Writer) 2.Insert->Field->PageNumering (appears "1" as the number of the page) 3.RightClick on the field ,e.g. put cursor just before number 1,right click . (Popup menu appears). 4.Click "Field" in the popup menu.(The box appears). 5.In the field that means Offset, which allows you to enumerate the page "1" with number "2" or "3" e.t.c., enter some positive number, for sample "2". 6.Press "OK". (The page number field instead of showing "3" becomes empty). Empircally is shown that entering offset makes the field empty as far as the number that was expected to be shown, e.g. page number + offset, is greater than the total nuber of pages in document. This is what has happened at least in the Russian version 2.0.3.

An offset of +2 means: Don't show me the page number of this page, but show me the number of the page which is two pages after this. If there is no such page, nothing can be shown. If you want to start a page with an individual number, you have to set it in the properties of the first paragraph on that page. See issue 2235.
