When I go into the Format / Character dialogue to change a font or text colour, 
changing the font or colour or just clicking on OK causes the message "An 
unrecoverable error has occurred.  All modified files have been 
saved ..etc..".  This is followed by a couple of Windows exceptions.

Same thing happens with version 1.0.1.

Further info:  

According to MS Visual C++ debugger, it is crashing in module 
TL641MI.DLL at offset 1c826bb5.

I have discovered that Writer only crashes if the option "Preview in 
fonts list" in Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/View is checked.

Unable to duplicate in Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OO 1.0.1.

I confirm the issue on Windows 2000 Terminal Server SP2 / OOO 1.0.1, 
with ou without font preview !
(unable to reproduce on another PC)

It seems similar to issue 5520 and issue 10170
