Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6509
icon for toggling "hidden cells" (from Format Cells->Cell Protection) and highlight these cells somehow
Last modified: 2003-09-26 11:58:25 UTC
so that one sees which cells will be printed and not printed. - implement an icon which allows the user to set the print/not print attribute. - implement an icon which makes "organisation" "markings" appear/disapperar (like the ¶ in writer).
> so that one sees which cells will be printed and not printed. Try View|Pagebreak preview. A nice preview of which areas are printed out (and you can still edit the sheet). > - implement an icon which allows the user to set the print/not print > attribute. The toolbars are for the most used functions (and they are already crowded), and I don't think that defining print ranges will be included there. Nevertheless you can add this function by yourself: Edit the toolbars (Tools|Configure|Toolbars or right click on toolbar) and add the printrange functions from Format category. Then you may attach an existing or new icon to them. > - implement an icon which makes "organisation" "markings" > appear/disapperar (like the ¶ in writer). Yes, that's missing.
i take it
Hi Lars, as Daniel explained, such an feature is available. Your second point seems to be not really usefull for Calc. IMHO it's not necessary, but I sent it to the feature guys. Frank
You are referring to the "positive" fct.; I am referring to the negative function : "cell properties, cell protection, do not print these cells" (translated from german). I liked to have an icon for that (optionally - I don't find it in the toolbar edit dialogue). Pagebreak could have been a good idea, but "leider" (<-german) cells marked to be not printed like described above do still show up. [Also: as whenever restarting calc the zoom mode resets back to ~50% -- either it should be saved (or be 100% standardly - makes sense as it is for immediate comparison, isn't it?) when changed once permanently(^="application dependant") or see issue 6352] Perhaps only using the positive fct. and "ignoring" the attribute for the negative fct. is a defect? P.s.: "Markings" such as the "not to be printed" mark is a "organisation mark"; but this idea is really P6-7.
pagebreak preview is nice, the icon for the mentioned function ist the main request then why? it's a function! every function must receive an icon to call it from (icon=the possibility to place the function-caller on a toolbar!) regarding "organisation markings", see issue 7047 for that, where such things can be considered when working on the suggested "redesign" (issue 6741).
Hi Lars, please don't change any flags especially the owner after submitting an issue. Any subcategory has its responsible engineers which have the knowledge of the responsible developers. So if you change flags by yourself, you will slow down the processing. Regards, Oliver
This issue is not on our roadmap to 2.0. Furthermore even Excel does not have such icons.

I don't think that "even Excel does not have such ..." is a good reason. Beside this is not a hard-to-imlplement feature.
I reopen: it IS useful - icon for toggling "hidden cells" (from Format Cells->Cell Protection) - highlighting such cells to identify them more easily (optionally, but as option via icon please)
We will have an icon for Page Preview in 2.0 and we will have 4 icons for print range definition.
Closed (Sorry, I can't set this issue to duplicate because the related feature has no IZ entry)
