Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6013
Starts to splashscreen and then aborts
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:29:45 UTC
Aborts with this error message every time. I18N: X Window System doesn't support locale "LC_CTYPE=en_GB@euro;LC_NUMERIC=en_GB@euro;LC_TIME=en_GB@euro;LC_COLLATE=C;LC_MONETARY=en_GB@euro;LC_MESSAGES=en_GB@euro;LC_PAPER=en_GB@euro;LC_NAME=en_GB@euro;LC_ADDRESS=en_GB@euro;LC_TELEPHONE=en_GB@euro;LC_MEASUREMENT=en_GB@euro;LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_GB@euro" Aborted My system is an Athlon 700 /512MB. XFree 4.2, kde3, SuSE 7.2, and this is the first time I've installed OpenOffice.org
Does it still occure when the locale is changed to en_US.ISO-8859-1?
Please give me a step by step instruction. Ican't reproduce this problem.
At least a few other people have run into this. For instance, http://archive.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/blfs-support/2002/08/0568.html Looking at the source code, this error happens when XSupportsLocale() returns false. It's easy to reproduce, too. Just set LANG to a locale not supported by your system. Setting the environment variable LANG to the value C and launching OpenOffice via the commandline should give you an emergency workaround. e.g. LANG=C soffice Please try updating to a newer version of Suse -- there's some chance it's a glibc bug or installation issue. If you can reproduce it with OpenOffice1.1beta and an updated Suse, please file a new issue. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 4440 ***
