I am running the Swedish version of OpenOffice 1.0 on a PC with Swedish version
of Windows98 SE. The CPU speed is 800MHz and the amount of RAM is 192MB.
To start an application (OpenOffice Writer)the first time after booting takes
about 42 seconds. It makes no differece if the smart start up function is
activated. M$-Word 2000 takes about 7 seconds to start the first time after
booting. It is most irritating to wait that long. There is also some lack of
M$-Word compatibility concerning tables.

I removed the "and lack of MS compatibility" from the title. Hans,
please don't mix things up. Such a generic complaint as your's has
nothing to do with the performance problem you described first,
moreover, it is much too unspecific for an Issuezilla record. Please
use the appropriate mailing lists for discuss such things.

Please try using the latest OOo 1.1 Rc5, 
Your version already old enough, and many bug fixes since your version 
and 1.1 RC5. If the problem still happend in 1.1 RC5 please report back

already there is improvements between 1.0 and 1.1

Please try using the latest OpenOffice 1.1 Final , you can download it
from www.openoffice.org
many bug fixes and enhancements since your version and 1.1 Final . If
the problem still happend in 1.1 please report back

OOo programmers are constantly working on improving speed of OOo, so i close
this issue, because it is too general.
