Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5578
Cannot copy formulas
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:39:57 UTC
Each time I try to copy a formula (copy and paste or paste special) I get the error: Error activating object: General OLE error.
Created attachment 2173 [details] Screenshot of broken ole formula object after cut and paste.
Thanks for posting the issue Massimo. For future reference, please include a more detailed description of the issue. Issue duplicated on RedHat 7.3 stock workstation install, OO 1.0, Gnome 1. Choose the menu options File | New | Text Document 2. Choose the menu options Insert | Object | Formula 3. Create a formula. 4. Cut or copy the formula. Keyboard shortcut or menu method for cut or copy is irrelevant. 5. Paste or Paste Special. See included screenshot. 6. A broken OLE(?) icon is displayed. Double clicking on the icon gives the following error message: "Error activating object. General OLE error."

A few interesting points: People claim that this bug does not exist in v642 of OO. Some people claim this affects all OLE objects. For now, I have duplicated the formula issue, but it works fine for charts. This bug cropped up in earlier builds but was supposedly addressed.
It works only if I copy a formula from wordprocessor and I paste into a chart. If I copy a formula from a chart and I paste it into the same chart it doesn't work anymore .... I get an empty box. see the following attachment. Best

Will be OK in oo 1.02
Yes, I can confirm the Bugfix for OOo 1.0.2
