Description Unknown 2002-05-05 16:23:16 UTC
Using OpenOffice.org 1.0.0 (French version) with Windows 98 Second Edition, I
found this bug. I'm sorry if it's been reported before but I didn't find it
anywhere. I'm not sure if this should really be reported in th writer component
or anywhere else.

When a sdw or sxw text contains formulas, those formulas cannot be pasted.
If a formula is selected, copied to the clipboard then pasted, an icon
(depicting an interrogation mark) is displayed instead of the formula. Trying
to 'open' this icon is useless.
I have also tried to paste as a 'Métafichier GDI' : this displays the formula
correctly but then it can't be edited.

There is a way to bypass the problem: instead of selecting and copying the
formula, one needs to open the formula first and copy its text; then insert a
new formula and paste the text into it.
Unfortunately, this is a waste of time and it makes the copying and pasting of
a whole paragraph containing several equations a real pain in the arse.
I consider this to be a very big bug indeed that could prevent people who type
many formulas from using OpenOffice. A pity because this project is very good,
both technically and ideologicaly.

Thanks

I have discovered that pasting formulas is impossible in sxw files
but works correctly if the file is saved in the sdw format. In other
words, in order to copy and paste formulas using OO.o, it is
necessary to first save the file in sdw format, close it (dunno why)
then reopen it with OO.o. Is the bug related to the sxw file format?

I have the same problem in .sxi (presentation) files:
I cannot copy and paste a formula. I must first open the formula, copy
its contents, open a new formula object, and paste into the new object.

Not a major bug. Not like it crashes the computer (see issue 5405).
But a fix would be appreciated.
