Description lsuarezpotts 2005-01-27 21:11:48 UTC
Stefan suggested we change the boilerplate referencing Sun in marketing materials, as well as the
splashscreen competition. Evidently, people are unaware of Sun's code contributions.
Instead of, "sponsor" I suggest: "sponsor and primary contributor Sun Microsystems".

So: I can change this in the About etc., pages. Jacqueline, would you change it for the Marketing
boilerplate?

thanks
Louis

changed in About (added, actually), added in Introduction.

I found "sponsor" in http://www.openoffice.org/about.html But I wasn't aware
that the marketing boilerplate was published anywhere.

The boilerplate was recently revamped for the OOoRegiCon/DLS PR and does not
specifically mention Sun, see:

"
About OpenOffice.org
OpenOffice.org is a world-class, fully featured open-source office
productivity suite available as a free download for major computing
platforms in over 40 languages. Data is stored in an XML file format
which has been adopted by OASIS as a draft standard for office
documents. OpenOffice.org is developed, supported, and promoted by an
international community of volunteers and sponsored employees operating
from the http://www.openoffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org/> web site.
"

Currently, this is hanging out in mail list messages and recent PR, but it does
need to go in the press kit.

Replacing "sponsor" with "sponsor and primar contributor Sun Microsystems":

We are working on finalising the PR for 2.0 Beta. While this boilerplate is
really geared towards for use by others we may wish to include it in our PR.

uhm, let's replace "world-class" with something else. It's *so* 90s.
