Description Unknown 2002-04-10 01:49:43 UTC
When using scalc.exe to modify .xls files, "Documents to Go" version 3.003
hangs on a hotsync to a Sony Clie' PEG-N760C hangs on a hotsync. Once the file
has been saved by Excel (office 2k) things return to normal. ???

Hi Tom,
does this happens with any or only with special documents? Please
try first with an empty document, than with one with only a number...
Comment 3 Unknown 2002-12-16 16:46:46 UTC
As requested via previous communications.
First, I created a blank spreadsheet. When the blank sheet is stored
as an .sxc file and I drag and drop it to the Doc's to go queue,
Doc's to go says it is a zip file and won't deal with it. I then
stored the blank sheet as a .xls file. When I drag and drop it to
the Doc's to go queue, Doc's to go hangs at the point where it is
converting from M$ format to Doc's to go format.
The action is the same with the number "1234" as the only content in
the sheet.

Hi Daniel,
one4you.

@submitter: Have you tried to contact the "Doc's to go" team too? If this tool rejects
an empty file that Excel accepts, their filter seems to be quite... let's say
sensitively.
I will take a look and try to clone Excel's original format even more.

According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap
(http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to
OOo Later.

Win98SE, DocsToGo v4.006 - doesn't hang, but files originated in OOo cause
"There was an error converting the file" message. Files originated on Palm,
saved as .xls, opened in OOo and re-saved all convert OK.

As an ex-Psion owner, I still have their file conversion software. Files
originated in OOo and saved to .xls are recognised and converted to Psion format
OK. If I then convert them straight back to .xls, DocsToGo now converts them
correctly! But Psion doesn't support multi-page spreadsheets...

It does sound like DocsToGo is, as stated, 'sensitive'

I have a one column spreadsheet (text only) which when saved in Open office
1.1.0 and/or 1.1.1 will not synch with the software. It works fine with
StarOffice 5.2.

I'll attached the original (created on the palm), an open office 1.1.1 version
and the starOffice 5.2 version which you can use as a testcase.
