Description ailmarfarm 2003-07-29 14:55:46 UTC
I have tried to use save a calc file as an xls file and syncronise it to my palm using
documents to go. Docs to go is unable to prepare it for syncing. I contacted Dataviz
about this and they suggested it was the way oo saved the file as an xls file, and
that if I opened the file in excel and then save dit all would be well. thats OK if you
have Excel! But then what is the point of using oo? the whole idea is to be MS office
free! Dataviz are not prepared to make oo files compatible.
There does not appear to be any problem with word processor part, that is an oo
document saved as a doc. file will sync ok with docs to go.
This issue is probably of little significance to the wider community and I will do not
expect any immediate action, but it would be nice to have it fixed.
Kind regards Peter McCrackan.

@submitter: Ok, DataViz does not want to add support for OOo XML
files, but have you suggested them to fix theit Excel filter? OOo's
exported Excel files are very close to original Excel files. There are
some other tools out there in this world that write Excel files too.
And most of these files are not that close to original Excel files as
OOo's files are. Do you have more information about what in this file
is not good enough for the Doc2Go filter? Or do you have any contact
information?
