Description stm 2004-05-25 14:14:55 UTC
The "Default Languages for Documents (English US)" option is normally retained.
However, when right clicking on the desktop or in a folder to create a "New"
"OpenOffice.org 1.1.1 Text Document" and then selecting that document, the
"Default Languages for Documents (English US)" is now set to "None".

Files created with "File -> New" from within the word processor do not have this
problem.

I believe this should be bumped up a notch or two in severity and set its target
milestone to the very next version.

One critical side-effect of this "Default Languages for Documents (English US)"
bug is that it kills Spellcheck and Autospellcheck with no information to the
user about why these CORE features no longer work.

It should (theoretically) be a very, very easy fix, but at its present priority
(P4 - 'less annoying issues', 'OOo later'), it could be overlooked through
additional releases (it's already snuck past 1.1.4 still broken).

It's EXTREMELY annoying having spellcheck not work, and it's not a particularly
natural work-around for most users to think up on their own, and when I posted
my bug (43292), no hits on the bug database resulted from looking for 'shell'
and 'spellcheck', when I knew pretty much exactly what was going on. How easy
is a 'work-around' if a user does not realize there is one?

SBA: I agree with evildave that this one is worth P3. -> Changed.

Please note that IF the responsible SUN developer has a truckload of "bigger
fisch to catch" there is always room for OOo community developers to help out
with "easy fixes".

SBA->OS: See further description based on OOo 2.01 in duplicate issue 59308.

Given the high number of duplicates we should raise the target to 3.x so that it
can get into the project reviews.
