Description shmuels 2004-04-19 08:59:24 UTC
I have a word 2000 document which contains a few text boxes in the upper right
hand corner. Only one seems to be inported. In addition, a text box that comes
out okay on the first page, is misformatted on the second page with no obvious
way to correct the result

For the capabilit of showing this correctly in OOo the whole frame/object
positioning algorith had to be restructured. Thus, these changes could only take
place in OO 2.0.
It is already implemented in current developer snapshot 680m34.

I tried the 680 build and it has other problems that I didn't pay attention to
before but it does solve the reported problem.
1) The text layout is bad (this could be a font compatability problem)
2) The bullet of bullet items are not picked up. There is not symbol in its
place. The first line of the bulleted item is not not indented like the other items.
3) Two graphics appear at the bottom of the document which do not appear in MS word.

1) I couldn't see a bad text layout. But as you pointed out, the may be a
font-related problem and not a filter issue. You could submit a new issue for
this and attach screenshots of the things happening on your machine.

2) I filed a new issue for the bullet related problem. See issue 28013.

3) The graphics are stored in the .doc. But these have an vertival offset of
about 14cm from the last paragraph in the document, so Word does not display
when these do not fit onto the last page. Enter a page break at the end of the
doc in MS Word, and you'll find the graphics on the new page.
I don't think that this is not worth ANY effort.

Update on the import problems. Both the bullet problem and the text layout seem
to be 2.0 problems since 1.1.1 gets the rendition correct on the same OS. I will
open another issue. It is just being reported here as a courtesy.
