Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20904
Omega symbol does not translate into PDF
Last modified: 2003-12-12 10:25:56 UTC
When exporting as PDF file, capital omega symbol becomes question mark. Much of my work involves using this symbol to represent ohms, the measure of resistance of a circuit.
I have checked this with OOo 1.1.0 on a Win98 machine, the Omega symbol inserted into text via > Insert > Special char > chosen font: system.ttf. The omega shows in the pdf file. Please tell what symbol font you use, better even attach a Writer file for us which reproduces your problem.

reassigned to hdu @ hdu: I think this is something for you... If I am right there's a glyph substitution on the screen which is not "transported" to the pdf. In the printout you can find an omega but not in the right font (e.g. Times)... I'll attach a sample document and the resulting pdf...
Created attachment 11895 [details] sample document
Created attachment 11896 [details] resulting *.pdf
HDU->PL: is the root cause for this the same as in issue 18964?
This indeed seems to be duplicate to issue 18964 *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 18964 ***
