Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20833
ES--Change translation of "font" to "letra" instead of "fuente"
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:00:08 UTC
*** Issue 20834 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
"Si me permites una apreciación un tanto personal (sobre todo viniendo del mundo de LaTeX), la única cosa que yo cambiaría es la traducción de 'font' por 'letra' en vez de 'fuente' (técnicamente, 'font' viene de fundido no de fuente). Eso, por mucho que M$ se empeñe en lo contrario." original by Pablo Rodriguez <ousia@gmx.net> In the Spanish (ES) translation, change the translation of "font" to "letra" instead of "fuente". Technically, "font" comes from "fundido" and not from "fuente". As much as Microsoft claims the contrary. Translation by Richard Holt. SBA: I had set 20834 as duplicate before realizing that this one here had no description. Oops. I therefore pasted the description of 20834 here. Reassigned to Translation.
Such minor translation issues should be fixed really fast. Set target to 1.1.2.
Anyone have any idea if this has been done, will not be done, or is considered incorrect? I'd like to let Pablo know. Thanks.
Translation: are you able to solve this for 1.1.3? If not, tell us.
I will talk to SBA on how to proceed on translation bugs regarding the big rules languages
Thanks! Will be forwarded to our linguists
Iano, as agreed - transferred to you
Checking with Spanish linguist...
According to our Spanish linguist, changes from "fuente" to "tipo de letra" are being made in our translations.
Setting target to 00 2.0. Could you pleasee give a specific description of where this problem is occuribf as i am having difficulties tracking it down. Waiting for 1st round of translations to come back from our lingusists to check if bug still present. If bug still exists, it will be fixed by our translators. thanks, Ian
These changes are ongoing... A few hundred have been changed already and a several hundred more remain to be changed.
As much as I hate to admit, Bill Gates has more clout on the development of the Spanish Language than the "Real Academia de la Lengua" and the King of Sapin put together. "Fuente" is the now widely accepted translation of "Font" despite it's wrong liguistic roots.
Setting as 'wontfix'
