Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20705
OOo fails to start with error GetStorage, name: "No Content!
Last modified: 2003-12-17 11:05:06 UTC
Upgraded from network installation of OOo 1.1RC2 to 1.1 network installation. No problems in upgrade. No problems with "client" updates on the same machine. This installation is on a single machine with multiple users. When run, OOo fails to start with a dialogue box: --- OpenOffice.org cannot be started due to an error in accessing the OpenOffice.org configuration data. Please contact your system administrator. The following internal error has occurred: GetStorage, name: "No Content! --- (Note: Missing closing quote on No Content!) This problem appears to have occurred before as issue 12695, however now OS is different and OOo version is different.
not a gsl issue
I can't reproduce. Please restart setup of the installed workstation and choose repair.
Workaround seems to be fine.
Confirming problem for OOo 1.1.0 (german version) on Windows XP; setup -net, setup for working user. Used to work until yesterday; not working anymore today, no changes to the user or his rights. Complete message: >> OpenOffice.org kann nicht gestartet werden, da beim Zugriff auf die OpenOffice.org Konfigurationsdaten ein Fehler aufgetreten ist. Bitte wenden Sie sich an Ihren Systemadministrator. Folgender interner Fehler ist aufgetreten: GetStorage, name: "No Content!<< (closing " missing) Tried to repair using setup.exe; no effect. quickstart.exe crashes with the same message. What is this workaround mentioned?
Created attachment 11730 [details] setup.log, gzipped
Please reopen the issue. It isn't resolved for my version (OOo 1.1.0, as mentioned above).
> Workaround seems to be fine. Please: _which_ workaround?! I couldn't get it repaired with the setup program!
@Number5: You may experience the same symptom (the error message), but not the same problem. Between OOo1.1 RC2 and final there was a bugfix. As a result of this, user ('workstation') installations done with the older version don't work with the final version. This can be fixed by doing a setup -repair using the newer version. Unless you did the same upgrade, you have a different problem. If you did the same upgrade, the 'workaround' should work for you. Looking at your attachment, one of your Common.xcu files appears to be corrupted. Please try: 1. remove file C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Tobias\Anwendungsdaten\OpenOffice.org1.1.0\user\config\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Common.xcu Does the office start now ? Otherwise: 2. remove the same file again (if it reappeared) and run setup -repair. Has the file reappeared and does office start now ? Otherwise: 3. Try setup -net -repair Check D:\Programme\OpenOffice.org1.1.0\program\setup.log for lines containing ERR near the end. Does the office start now ? Otherwise: 4. Remove the entire directory D:\Programme\OpenOffice.org1.1.0 and redo the setup -net -d D:\Programme\OpenOffice.org1.1.0; you don't need to redo the user setup. Does the office start now ? Otherwise: Check D:\Programme\OpenOffice.org1.1.0\program\setup.log for lines containing ERR near the end. If they are there, you appear to have a broken installation set.
