Description Unknown 2003-09-02 21:25:47 UTC
When I save my presentation (using the 'disk' icon on the tool bar) it is
sometimes saved with password even though I have clicked of the checkbox in
the "Save as" dialog.

Reassigned to Christian.

I have additional information on this problem. OO sometimes wants
the password even when the document has been specificlly saved with
the password clicked off. It appears most often (as far as I can
tell) if I load the document, print, and exit without saving.

does this happend with specific file, maybe from powerpoint or all file ?

you mention about sometimes/not always, can you try to find out when
it is happend ?
can you reproduce it ?
Comment 4 Unknown 2003-09-12 15:01:32 UTC
I have created several new presentations in OO and it happens with
most of them. It happens frequently, but more often if the
presentation is large. One file I have created is smaller without
many imported graphics, and it hasn't done it yet. I have tried to
find a specific action that causes it but none is consistant. There
may be a connection to printing. It has happened when I have loaded
a presntation, printed, saved (I have the habit of saving
frequently) and exited. I've tried several different combinations:
open, displaying the presentation, saving, exit, re-load... no.
Opening the "save as" dialog, saving with the toolbar button... no.
etc. But, it is inconsistant (always comes up at the most un-
convenient times!) usually when I can't remember exactly what I did
last (i.e. loading the document for the presentation several days
later). I know how difficult it will be to track this bugger down
without a specific example. I'll do my best to duplicate and
document the conditions. BTW: It may also be related to the issue
18978 (which I have a specific repeatable example!).
Thanks...
PWB.

Please try using the latest OOo 1.1 Rc4,
Your version already old enough, and many bug fixes since your version
and 1.1 RC4.

The empty password is added to the document by autopilot.
To reproduce the scenario just open an existing impress document
through autopilot presentation dialog, change the document and store it.
The stored document will be encrypted with empty password.
The problem is that during opening autopilot sets a password to
impress document always ( file sd/source/ui/app/sdmod1.cxx, rev 1.23
starting on line 311 ). So if the document is saved later ( not SaveAs
) the password will be used.
The problem does not affect new documents because they are always
stored by SaveAs operation.

By the way I didn't see any mention about passwords in impress
autopilot dialog GUI. So may be the password should not be handled by
autopilot at all?

MAV->THB: Seems to be impress area. Could you please take a look?

Andre, please have a look. Christian told me that he simply sets the password to 'empty
string' on the SFX, which, according to MAV, is the wrong way to do. I have no
information about the right way to do, unfortunately.
