Description jvromans 2003-07-22 12:39:24 UTC
Up to 1.1beta2, each of the OOo programs (soffice, swriter, sdraw, ...)
remembered the size of its main window between invokations.
In 1.1rc, soffice no longer does this, but starts each time with a default size.
The other programs (swriter, sdraw, ...) still do remember the size.

TM->BH: Sizes and/or positions of task windows are stored and
remembered within the single applications. The initial staroffice
window (in backing mode) isn´t defined as application. Therefore a
change in the corresponding spec. must be done to let the developers
start with their work.

Hello Matthias, please have a look at this issue, as you are the
specification owner. It sounds as defect, but have a look and change
the issue type, if given.
Comment 5 Frank Schönheit 2003-07-23 15:37:16 UTC
confirming the issue, changing type to DEFECT since it's broken
compared to previous versions.

May I humbly and semi-seriously suggest to get rid of the annoying
"OpenOffice.org starts with the backing window" behaviour? :)
Comment 6 matthias.mueller-prove 2003-07-23 17:56:05 UTC
Frank, OOo starts into the backing windows state only if it is
launched with the command soffice. Nevertheless I add to the spec that
the backing window should remember its size.

added specification to
http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/start_module/StartModule.sxw

Andreas, please take over.
Comment 10 andreas.schluens 2004-01-22 07:19:59 UTC
Sorry - its not a defect. Because the StartModule is a newer module then
writer/calc etcpp. and this feature was never be implemented before. So its an
Enhancement.

The PersistenWindowListener must use the new ModuleManager concept to handle all
registered modules (registered inside the setup.xcu) in a generic manner.
Comment 13 andreas.schluens 2004-04-22 09:20:22 UTC
According to the guidelines a change the prio to P4. Further there is a similar
bug (#i21547#) wich describes the same problem and is set to P4 currently.

Comment 15 andreas.schluens 2004-09-07 09:55:59 UTC
The implementation uses the new ModuleManager for identification of an office
document now. And so the StartModule (was BackingComponent before) will be
recognized as an office module too.

AS->SG: Please run the test for "Persistent Window States", so we can see if it
works now as aspected. THX.
