Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16889
find unicows.dll if not in c:\windows and propose a copy
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:53:51 UTC
Hi, For those platforms which need unicows.dll there are many users who have real problems finding and downloading it. However many users already have it installed by other packages in the c:\package or c:\program files\package directory. It should be possible for the installer to propose to the user to find the unicows.dll file (if not already in c:/windows/ ) and if found to copy it so that it can be used by the installer and if necessary to be copied to the OOo installation directory. If not found it should explicitly tell the user to go to the Microsoft site to downlaod the file - giving a link to at least http://www.microsoft.com, or better a link to the MS download page with unicows.dll filled in. The other alternative is to include unicows.dll in the OOo iunstallation set so the user only has to download OOo. But I guess that there a re licensing problems with this.
