Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16338
chinese installation comes up with Vera fonts - which does not contain chinese glyphs
Last modified: 2003-07-21 15:08:17 UTC
This is due to a missing entry in the default font lists for chinese; the default font falls back to english where Vera is appropriate.
working on it
checked in chinese font lists in CWS ooo11rc2
pl->us: fixed in CWS ooo11rc2; this was fixed by adding "Ming" and "Kai" to the SANS_UI font lists for chinese. This definitely works on solaris as these fonts are installed with the chinese locales but may fail on different Linux versions (which can basically have any font as their UI font). Until we find a dynamic solution for this please file issues to add suitable fonts to the SANS_UI lists whenever you find a distribution where OOo comes up without UI font.
Works in general. Fails only for locale zh_CN.EUC aka GB2312. I'd recommend to add the folowing fonts also, which are available as scalable fonts at least in all simplified chinese locales: fangsong hei song Setting to FIXED in order to get it into RC2. Filing a follow up for zh_CN.EUC aka GB2312 on Target 1.1.1
Verified issue.
Follow up is issue 16977.
OK in OOo RC2 (srx645_m13s2.8662). Closing Issue. Pls. see follow-up issue 16977.
