Description guido.pinkernell 2003-06-01 14:57:30 UTC
Steps to reproduce:

1.
Install 1.1beta2 over an existing 1.0.3.1. On about 80% of install process,
install asks whether to overwrite opens_.ttf (100kb) by a new version (46kb).
I´ve tried both (i.e. overwrite no and, later, overwrite yes), and in both cases
the bug will occur:

2.
In 1.0.3.1 writer, create a formula, e.g. a matrix. Or better try attached file
(if I find out how to attach one). It should open in 1.0.3.1 without problems,
and the formula editor should open without problems after doubleclick.

3.
Open the same file in 1.1beta2 writer. Doubleclick on the formula. Either
1.1beta2 crashes right now, or it chrashes right after leaving the formula
editor with esc. Note that the it´s a OS-system window (not OOo) that informs
about the crash.

I have noticed that the 1.0.3.1 formulas (here font size not default 12pt but
10pt), when opened in 1.1beta, they seems slightly too large, as if set in 12pt.
After doubleclick on one of them for the first time and then leaving the formula
editor of 1.1beta2 by esc, they seem to shrink, immediately followed by the crash.

No problem with version SRX645m3s1-2 and OO1.1 Beta ujder Windows XP.

TL->MRU: Please check with Windows 98.

Tested it with OO 1.1 Beta2 and the newest internal 645 build. Both
work fine.
Pinkernell, in Issue #12557 there's described how to get a fixed
Version of the OpenSymbol font. Maybe this insisted the crash on your
system.

Very strange.

A day later, after I submitted this, both versions do fine now. I.e.,
I - myself - am not able to repeat the problem with my own file.

However, this could be due to the fact that I deinstalled some small
W98 program which I recently installed via direct Internet access to
MS server. It´s called something like "Microsoft ... IME", some kind
of keyboard or font manager for displaying fonts in the internet
browser or email client (in my case Mozilla which prompted the
download), and appears as a small blueish rectangle in the system tray
displaying the present settings in form of "DE" (German here).

I had no problems with the formula editor in both 1.0.3.1 and 1.1beta2
(new opens_.ttf not installed, kept opens_.ttf from 1.0.3.1) for a
long time up to some weeks ago. I can´t remember whether that was the
time when this "MS IME" got installed on my computer. It could very
well have been.
