attached is a document, a template I've been using in 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.1beta, 
and now 1.1beta2, and suddenly the characters are displayed all jumbled up 
compressed together, sometimes not visible at all.
Yet when printing or exporting to a PDF things turn out normal, so it is a 
display problem only... yet pretty unworkable.

i've just appended another example.

For me the bottom line is that this issue is so severe that it is 
stopping me from any further work on the beta testing. It is 
completely disabling any of the "normal" operational functionality I 
need from the wordprocessing segment of the program.

I cannot confirm that on my system:
Win XP pro, OOo 1.1beta2 german
maybe of interest:
NVidia Graphics driver (Version 4.1.0.9)
screen res. 1152x864
32 bit color

Hi Rogier,
I can't reproduce this here, but it sounds vaguely similar to some 
bugs I have seen (issue 13963, issue 12705).
Can you attach a screenshot?

someone asked for a screendump - here it is.
I've stopped all work with 1.1b2 because of these font problems. I 
can't use 80% of the fonts on my machine.

Rogier, I don't see the screenshot... did you forget to attach it?

Also, can you reproduce with 1.1.0rc4?  On one of my machines,
that version fixed display problems, maybe it'll have a fix for your
font problem.

Please try using the latest OpenOffice 1.1 Final , you can download it
from www.openoffice.org
many bug fixes and enhancements since your version and 1.1 Final . If
the problem still happend in 1.1 please report back 
It maybe not yet solve your Issue, but it worth to try.

plaese try to use OOo1.1 final as utomo insist. sounds like this is a 
duplicate if this behaviour still exists in the latest office release.
please come back with your statement on the latest release and if 
possible send us a screenshot showing this behaviour.

if i do not see any reply until 11-28 i will close this issue as works 
for me
