Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 14633
Report generated by autopilot doesn't respect field order if sorted
Last modified: 2006-05-31 14:29:06 UTC
Steps: 1) File | AutoPilot | Report. 2) Choose the Bibliography data source, and the Biblio table. 3) Specify Author and Title as fields, in that order. 4) Click Next 3 times to reach the sorting page. 5) Specify Sort by Title, then by Author. 6) Click Next twice. 7) Specify static report and provide a file name. 8) Click Create. Observed: The created report has the Title column first. Expected: The fields to appear in the order specified on the first page.
Still a problem in 1.1 Beta2
confirming and assigning to responsible engineer.
Berend, this perhaps could fit into the criterions for 1.1RC (bug in a newly introduced feature). However, this would strongly depend on the risk. If you think that a fix for this is reasonable possible, then please consider targeting for 1.1RC.
According to MSC this won't make it into the next release. I will fix it for the Version after (2.0???)
then let's target it to 2.0 :)
.
BC: I found out that the Report wizard behaves according to the MS Access Report wizard, which was also the reason why I specified the behavior the way it is now. BC->CJ: Please make a decision if the report autopilot is either supposed to behave MS interoperable (=keep the current behavior) or to behave logical (change the current behavior). IMHO we should change the current solution because we expanded the field selection page (the first page in the autopilot) by an additional sorting functionality represented by "Up" and "Down" buttons that ease possibility to exactly determine the final field order.
CJ->BC: In my opinion we shall switch to the more logical solution.
BC: I will implement it within the following two months
