Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 103919
Cannot cut-paste or delete tables w/ protected cells.
Last modified: 2009-07-31 11:54:14 UTC
Hi , This is a general behavior for OO Writer. You cannot Cut-Paste or Delete a table when it has a protected cell in it. I believe deleting or moving around a table in a document shouldn't be restricted if a cell is protected. I can obviously un-protect the cell and move the table around. But when i have multiple-cells marked as protected its just not feasible! This a a generic issue and i believe doesn't require a testcase. Thanks for looking into this! P.S i didn't really understand the version numbers here. Pls. modify accordingly. This is reproducible on any of the OO versions (Tried 3.0+)
The root cause is already tracked as issue 14095. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 14095 ***
Closing duplicate.
Hi, The issue 14095 has not been looked at since last 1 year. Its in an unconfirmed state. Probably the requester didn't peruse it. (That was pre-3.0 release) The issue still exists. What can be done to re-investigate into this. Should i re-open this for further tracking? If you can mark the other one as closed (not looked at since last 1 year)? P.S Issue 14095 is marked as an enhancement. But this seems to be some bug. Thanks, Abhishek.
Hi, you can confirm issue 14095 or give your vote there. That it has not been worked on for a year is not a reason of interest, it is due to a lack of resources. Of course this is an enhancement - an algorithm for detecting protected contents in a selection has to be implemented. Currently the intention is, that in general nothing will be deleted if a protection is avalable in the selection.
If you think this is an enhancement i'd say its an absolute must when you deal with a table of say 100 rows with 5-6 columns each and a few hundred protected cells!. This seems to be a a big usability hurdle. I'll update the other Issue as you mentioned. Thanks, Abhishek.
