the method of generating an em-dash with two minus signs also is triggered in typing by the space after the following word, but fails if there is a punctuation mark abutting the emdash, e.g. ...the so-called "Hottentots"--and they were a very influential tribe--developed... Hi, I am not sure this is a lingucompoment issue. MySpell and friends only get what the main breakiterator code in OOo proper send it. I think you are referring to the autocorrect feature which is not under the lingucomponent module. So I think the best way is to redirect this to issues@sw.openoffice.org in the hops that someone there can redirect this to the right module / developer. Kevin Reassigned to MRU.ö also noted that the emdash, 2 minus signs autocompletes in 1.0.2, and in 1.1beta it only auto completes after you put a space behind the last word, which is a pain when you are correcting something, for you have to delete a space and reinsert a space to make the emdash happen. MRU->SBA: This is about AutoCorrect, not Spelling. reassigned to sba. also, I cannot control hyphenation, even if I specify to leave 3 or 4 chars, it still breaks at 2. Moreover while hyphenation is frequently not correct, I have not found a manual way to do hyphenation. But definitely the automatic hyphenation makes too many mistakes, and cannot be used in any professional documents. Note: I am aware that the documentation says that <Ctrl><-> produces a soft hyphen, but that does not work as advertised, at least not in 1. 1beta. I've tried it, but it produces a hard hyphen which stays in place if the word subsequently rolls to the next line, so the upshot is there is no way currently to do professionally tolerable hyphenation either manually or automatically. As a professional writer, this is a serious issue for me. SBA->OS: This is related to issue 5838 (dash replacement & custom quotes don't work at the same time). But this one here has a little more to say so I don't set it to duplicate (maybe the other one?). I think that the whole "dash thingie" must be re-thought. Even a re-specification should be taken into account as well as a review of the respective help texts. Hello, I have tested all sorts of hyphen and dashes in S061.beta2german (isn't it the same as OOo1.1beta?) on win98 and they are all correct. I have insert them by specialkey and by <ctrl> and by the old SO5.2-way over <alt>0150 and <alt>0151. Also the dashes, which are filled in by replacement, are correct. To me it looks, that only the odd behavior of replacement has to by improved. Regina *** Issue 5838 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** . SBA: According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap http://tools.openoffice.org/releases this issue was retargeted to OOo Later. *** Issue 23588 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** *** Issue 21131 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** SBA: In my opinion, this one is a duplicate of enhancement issue 5018. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 5018 *** close the duplicate |
