Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 99654
Impress crashes with large presentation
Last modified: 2009-02-26 12:47:59 UTC
The presentation I made in Impress under Open Office 2.4 is 68 Mb large, but the program crashes even at starting to load the file, but in any case after any small alterations. Under version 2.4 I did not encounter this problem. I need to edit the presentation very soon, need I install version 2.4 again? I use Windows XP SP3, have 2 Gb RAM memory. Please advise shortly!!!!!!!!!!! Kind regards, Philip Bosma Elst, the Netherlands
Have you been asked to send a crash report and did you do so? Which ID did you receive then? Is there enough free memory on your harddisk ? As a short cure I would recommend to install 2.4 again.
Indeed, I sent several reports generated after the crashes. I don't remember the code that these carried. And sure, I reinstalled version 2.4, although the Dutch issue seems to be no longer available. I have room plenty on my harddisks, both for the program ans for the documents. I am curious what went wrong in the 3.0 version.
Normally you get an email after sending an error report containing a line like "The ID of the error report is rujt6vc." Which email adress did you use? This would help to find your sending in the database. If you do not like to see it here in the issue you can send it directly to me wg @ openoffice.org.
I am sorry, but I did not receive any confirmation after sending the crash reports. My e-mail address is phebosma@planet.nl. And now I remover the 3.o version from my computer, I can no longer reproduce the fault. But I tried that many times, with many variations, like saving under a new name, that it is quite obvious there is something wrong. Also, after reinstalling version 2.4, the program complained about the newer version that the document was created with.
Sorry, but I cannot find anything in the dtabase with your given email adress. Since we do not have a crash report and no document for reproducing we cannot do anything about to fix this. Maybe you have the chance to test your document on another system to check if it crashes there, too. Please feel free to reopen the issue if you have more info. Thanks for your help.
