Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9952
arabic calc not showing alphabets as u type
Last modified: 2003-11-05 15:30:30 UTC
in calc, when u select a font that types arabic (andalus, arial, arabic backslanter)and click on a cell to begin typing the alphabets appears as boxes. However, u do see the words when u click outside the box. teh words remain legible even tho as u type new words in a different cell tehy are boxes.
DL->NN: would you please takeover?
I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Each cell has different font attributes for latin and complex text. If you use the object bar to change the font for an empty cell, which of the two attributes is changed depends on your Locale setting language (Options/Language Settings/Languages). If the locale is English, you changed the latin text font, so the arabic text still uses the default font. If you want empty cells to be treated as having complex script type, change the Locale language to an arabic language (in the options dialog, or in the system settings). I'll flag the issue as invalid. If I misunderstood you and this is about something else, please comment and reopen it.
reopened to clarify this: The issue is that when I try typing in arabic (using an arabic locale and an arabic font that works in writer) calc does not let me see what I am typing until after I have entered all the text. Once I leave the cell the text appears but until then its all boxes.
I still can't reproduce it. Oliver, can you take a look?
I can't reproduce this either. Please retry with the latest version (OOo1.1Beta2)
Issue could not be reproduced and no further input from user
