Description secsol 2009-02-16 14:57:20 UTC
When I try to open fx a .ODT or .OTT file from inside Internet Explorer 7 (no
other browsers test nor can they be used) we are prompted with "General
Internet error has occurred" clicking OK 3 times opens the document up.

Unfortunately I cannot provide URL as this is from an internal website.
However this is reproducible from all workstations here.

The dialog box "General Internet error has occurred" is not from Internet
Explorer but from OpenOffice - just to clarify.

-> secsol: Please mention how you try to load an office-document into IE. Via
file-menu, URL or link ?

I just click on a URL link on a Microsoft Sharepoint website running on IIS 6.0.
Comment 5 secsol 2009-02-17 12:50:31 UTC
I just tried uploading a few files to IIS 6.0 webserver at our ISP and then I
can open the files without problems.

It seems something happens when the same files are to be opened from the
Sharepoint website.

I had a look at the MIME types but they look OK as far as I can tell, also the
files do open - just only after clicking the OK button in OOO a few times.

I can see other people are having the same issues.
Looks like this is a issue between Sharepoint and OOO.

Also please see issue 24948 which seems to be similar.
Comment 8 secsol 2009-02-17 15:12:29 UTC
Also, please note this is Sharepoint 3.0.
Comment 9 secsol 2009-02-18 08:55:23 UTC
I found a Sharepoint 3.0 demo website where you can test it:
