Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 98936
Derived paragraph style gets wrong list style from parent
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:18:07 UTC
Scenario, A table is created with 3 columns. text is entered to row 1 column 1, consisting of a heading A and text body. A style is created and applied to heading A; the heading should be enumerated. text is entered to row 2 column 1, consisting of a heading B and text body. A style is created and applied to heading B; the heading should not be enumerated. text is entered to row 1 column 1, consisting of a heading A and text body. A style is created and applied to heading A; the heading should be enumerated. If the cursor is navigated to row to and the table function enabled to insert a new row below or above the active row, the new row does not accept the styles. For example new text is entered into the new row as previously described. When the style heading B or A is applied, the text body and heading alignment becomes irregular.
I was not able to reproduce this from the description above... Could you please attach a document (at the state right BEFORE you add a new row in the table) so that we can reproduce the problem here? thanks for supporting us!

see document. Unable to ensure left alignment of text with headings
Sorry, but I do not really understand what you mean by "Unable to ensure left alignment of text with headings". Well, I work with OOo 3.0 but I do not think, that this fact makes much difference here. I navigate the cursor to Table cell C2, click the "Insert row" button and get the correct result having "Heading 2" paragraph in the new row with the indents defined in the applied list style.
text alignment fails when new styles for the headings and the text are created and then applied. For example, create a new non-enumerated heading based upon heading 2, with a new indent value x. Create a text style A with indent value x. Create enumerated heading based upon heading 2, with indent x. Create a text style B with indent x (text style A could be italicised text, text style B could be small capitals text).
We don't understand what the problem is. Please don't explain with paragraph A or B with x value but refer to the text in your document or better add a screenshot of what's wrong and fake a screenshot of what should be.

That is not a problem of the heading styles. you have applied a list style named "item non action" to the heading 2 paragraph in cell A2. This will of course a different indent than the indent applied to the derived heading 2 style in cell A6. MRU->OS: this problem arises by incorrect defaults when deriving a paragraph style. Take the attachment - try to create a new paragraph style based on "Heading 2" -> "Numbering 1" will be proposed as list style instead of "item non action" assigned to "Heading 2".
Further observations: In next style, unable to specify 'none' Should a heading style be in text category or chapter category? In style and formatting window, have to change view before new items appear. Sometimes the new items disappear from view (random occurrence) Headings are not seen in the navigator window Formatting styles are not retained after selecting other styles
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
