Description eric.bachard 2009-02-04 15:16:32 UTC
showrev not found on OpenSolaris, causing trouble at buildtime (e.g. in stlport).

My configure command line :

eric@opensolaris:~/moz2seamonkey01/config_office$ ./configure --with-lang=fr
--with-ant-home=/usr/local/apache-ant-1.7.1
--with-jdk-home=/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.6.0 --with-use-shell=bash

I'd suggest to replace showrev (is it even installable ? ) with another test,
because the returned value leads to chaotic behavior on OpenSolaris

ericb@cli : how did you proceed with stlport ?

@ericb: I abandoned my effort to build OOo on OpenSolaris :(
The problems with stlport are well known and in my opinion we should get rid of it as soon as
possible...
Afaik no one has ever build OOo on OSOL and the official packages are modified Solaris packages.

@cli

Hi Christian,

The problem is imho the wrongly declared/detected environment :

- missing variables ( or badly declared) ;
- configure issues, and so on.

Playing a bit with it, I was able to start the mozilla ( seamonkey 1.1.13 ) build. I got a breakage - just at
the end-, and a strange behavior (gmake paused ??), but I am pretty sure we can build it ( just a
strange freeze ).

About stlport, the best way is to define a strategy, e.g. : use SunStudioExpress libs and stick to that.

Is there someone from Sun I could contact for that ? The idea, is to start a work in
solenv/inc/unxsoli4.mk, add the right options, and then fix the configure/set_soenv step .. and so on.

Last but not least, I need to know whether on an amd64 machine, more precisely, the nee is to be sure
I *really* got a 64bits environment. What I found is not informative, because libs seems to be a mix of
32 and 64 bits stuff, what does basically not simplify the life.

Let's continue on the wiki page you started ? (I cannot promise we'll progress fastly, but at least it worth
a try, e.g. proposing the task to a student from Seneca College).
