Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9833
Font with Hebrew glyphs do not display a name in the object bar font menu
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:02:26 UTC
Most Hebrew fonts only contain Hebrew glyphs. Since the font menu in the object bar attmpts to render font names in the actauly fonts, all those fonts display as blank entreis (although the fonts themselves work). To repro: 1) make sure you have some Hebrew fonts installed that do not have English glyphs. like thge free fonts found here: http://www.kitsh.co.il/bensfonts/index.html or the commercial fonts from Masterfont. 2) Try to select one of them from the main font menu- they appear as blank entries in the menu. 3) after selecting one, notice how the font itself works for Hebrew text fine. Notice that in the widget above the menu, the font names appear fine, but in the recently used font list on the top of the menu the name renders blank. 4) right click on the document, and select the font context menu. Notice that the font names are in the application font, and they are appear in place.

Created attachment 3902 [details] the font menu in the context menu- this displayes ok
DL->CP: Would you please takeover?
cp->hdu: goodness me, what could this be ? ;-)
Currently only the english name gets displayed. Using the font itself to to this will fail until the "glyph fallback" feature is implemented.
HDU->US: Fixed in HDU01 CWS. Please verify.
Marking as FIXED.
Hmm, works for some of the BN fonts. But most of them claim to have latin characters, but actually don't. As we rely on this (wrong) information, we still don't display a name in the combo box.
The remaining issue (see above) is now subject of issue 11553.
Verified in OOo 1.1 Beta2.
