Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 97887
UI font display as italic under Simplified Chinese UTF-8 locale with KDE vcl plugin
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:33:41 UTC
when set the system locale to zh_CN.UTF-8, all the fonts in the UI will be italic. This happens in both Debian's version and the official version. if I use this command to launch OpenOffice.org, the problem will not happen: LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8 soffice
Created attachment 59259 [details] screenshot of the problem
also, this only happens when using the KDE VCL plugin. The GTK version works without problem.
Could you please inform us which exact Linux you are using to reproduce this problem ?
I'm currently using Debian lenny.
pl->sba: cannot reproduce in DEV300m40; could be fixed in the meantime. But please have a look.
I have did some further tests, and it seems this only happen when I set the UI font of KDE3 to a "specific" one (e.g., "DejaVu Sans") and not those ones like "Sans Serif", "Serif", etc. By setting the UI font to a Chinese font (like "AR PL ShanHeiSun Uni") also fixes the problem. However, the problem still doesn't happen in other programs.
Setting the font to "DejaVu Sans" means you explicitly select a font which cannot display chinese characters. In that case some replacement will be taken that can, which in this case unfortunately seems to be an italic font. pl->hdu: this seems to be another "fontconfig" font replacement issue, which maybe is already fixed ?
maybe this should be closed as invalid as KDE3 is no longer active.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
