Summary
-------
OOo crashes when browsing the Options window

System Configuration
--------------------

Platform: PC
OS: Win2k NT5.0, WinXP NT5.1
Version: 2195, 2600

Steps to reproduce
bug
----------------------
1. Open any type of document to bring up the main OOo window
2. Close all windows by going
to menu option File->Close or Window->Close until the only window that is still listed is
OpenOffice.org 643C
3. Go to menu option Tools->Options

This should bring up the options
interface.

4. Select the General option and click anywhere on the panel that comes up for the
general option

5. Select the Memory option .... the application won't update even if any
other option is chosen. When the OK button is clicked, the program blows up saying that an
Unrecoverable error has occured, followed by the following error messages:

---------------------------

OpenOffice.org 643 : soffice.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x1de188c1"
referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate
the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

---------------------------
OpenOffice.org 643 :
soffice.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The exception unknown software exception (0xc000001e)
occurred in the application at location 0x01e4e614.
Click on OK to terminate the
program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

This never occurs if there is
any other window open along with the main interface window. For example if I have a writer
document open at the same time, there is no problem. The Options interface works without a
hitch.

Bharath, thank you for using and supporting OOo.

Unable to duplicate on Win2k server SP3, OOo 643C.
Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, OOo 643c.

Replicated on WinXP Home w/ Ooo 643.

Don't need to click inside one of the General options - just going
to the General tab appears to cause the issue.

Cancel instead of OK will allow you to exit the dialog without the
errors but when you go back into the options it is still frozen.

If you subsequently open a document and go back into Options
it "unfreezes" (i.e. allows you to change the selected option).

I can't reproduce it either.
How do you do to get a window which name is only "OpenOffice.org 643".
You mean "Untitled 1 - OpenOffice.org 643", don't you?

If you open up a document in 643 and then close the document, the
window doesn't close and you it says OpenOffice.org 643.

Still reproducible on XP Home w/643.

Reproduced by:
Opening a blank text document using Quickstarter
File/Close
Tools/Options
Select General under OpenOffice.org
Click OK - dialog box appears saying An unrecoverable error has
occurred.
Click ok in Dialog box - windows error reporting appears allowing
you to send an error report to Microsoft.

Despite some reminders there is still no target milestone asigned. From the fact
that reporter and owner are identical we conclude information is missing that
doesn't allow working on this issue. That's why we've decided to close such
issues. This is done without invidually taking care of each issue. If you feel
this decision has been wrong regarding this specific issue, please re-open it.
