Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9739
OOo crashes when space entered in OOo File Open dialog
Last modified: 2003-05-20 11:40:28 UTC
Try this: 1.) Start OOo 643C. 2.) Click on “File” at the upper left corner and then select “Open”. As a result the File Open Dialog Window comes up. Note, that the actual cursor position is at the starting point of “File name” field. 3.) Hit a SPACE. 4.) Hit ENTER. As a result of this attack: OOo displays a message: "An unrecoverable error has occured. All modified files have been saved and can probably be recovered at program restart." Then the program stops without restart or any further messages. The same happens at File/Save As function...
Tamas, thank you for using and supporting OOo. Do you have OpenOffice.org dialogs enabled or disabled? Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, RH OOo 1.0.1. Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, OOo 643c. Will test on Win2K later. Test lab here does not have XP capabilities.
Yes, "Openoffice.org dialogs" was enabled at Tools-->Options--> Openoffice.org-->General-->Open/save dialogs. I unchecked it, and tried the 4 steps again and it did not crash. After that I checked that "Openoffice.org dialogs" again, and followed the process above, and the program stopped as I wrote first. Is it normal operation?
Lucky gut guess on my part. Duplicated on Win2k server SP3, OOo 643c. OOo Open/Save dialogs must be enabled. Summary: Typing a space then pressing enter in the OOo File->Open dialog crashes OOo. This does not happen with the Windows native File->Open dialog. Sorry, don't have a 1.0.1 box handy to test on. User summary Typing space into File Open OR Save fields makes program stop.
Changing to framework.
Confirmed.
TM->FS: As talked about, please have a look, thanks !
