Description Unknown 2002-12-01 05:56:24 UTC
Summary
Display problem when a document containing Cross-References as an OLE object is
inserted

Steps to reproduce bug

1.Open a new file
2.Go to the menu Option Insert->Object->OLE Object
3.Choose the Create from file option
4.Choose the file I have attached below to insert as an Ole Object

The swx file appears an OLE object on the screen without any problem. Select
the OLE object and double-click it or right on the object and choose the edit
option.

5.Try and type some text into the OLE object.
No text appears on the screen although the text that is being typed is actually
being added to the file. In order to see the text the Ooo window has to
minimized and restored again. Any new text again will not be displyed on the
screen.
Similarly if backspace is pressed, the deletion of the text is not displayed on
the screen until the window is minimized and maximized again.

Notes:
This display problem occurs for any of the Cross Referencing options that are
available in the writer application. I have tried them all but have provided
the following example file for an attachement since I feel that it is an
example of a file that is pretty common and where this function may be used
extensively. I have no clue as to why this bug occurs. I hope that you will
find this report useful in finding and fixing the bug.

Bharath, thank you for using and supporting OOo.

Duplicated on Win2k server SP3, OOo 643C.
Problem does not exist in RH OOo 1.0.1, RH 8.0.

Summary: When editing embedded OLE objects in a doc, a stripped
          down "writer" interface appears.

OOo 643c has rendering/display problems with this interface.
Text entered does not display, moving the scrollbars
          creates confusing refresh problems.

Reassigned to MRU
Comment 4 michael.ruess 2002-12-03 11:30:28 UTC
MRU->AMA: Hm, only in this case the text is not painted correctly in
the OLE object. Really seems to depend on the inserted cross references.
Comment 5 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-02-25 12:26:21 UTC
OD->MRU (25.02.2003):
defect reproducable in srx644m3, but no longer reproducable in
srx644m3s1. Please verify and close this issue.
Comment 6 michael.ruess 2003-04-17 08:46:38 UTC
MRU->OD: In OO 1.1 Beta, the you type is not displayed anyway.
In srx644m9 (and CWS sw011) Writer crashes, when entering text in the OLE.
Comment 7 frank.meies 2003-04-17 09:43:09 UTC
FME: Crashed should be fixed already. Please check in current version.
Comment 8 michael.ruess 2003-04-17 10:04:06 UTC
Crash fixed in srx644m11. Target lowered to OO2.0
Comment 9 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-04-22 13:17:47 UTC
OD (22.04.2003):
accepted and reset priority.
Comment 10 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-04-23 11:24:54 UTC
OD (23.04.2003): accepted.
Comment 11 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-07-03 11:14:18 UTC
OD->MRU (03.07.2003):
Again, not reproducable in SRX645m9.
Please verify and close.
