Description ingenstans 2002-11-29 09:22:35 UTC
I needed to set up a format like a play script, with a deeply indented main text body, but with the
first line of each paragraph containing an outdented pair of initials representing the
speaker. The layout is shown on the attached document.
HOw I did this was to make a numbering
format for every speaker, which had numbering set to "None" and their initials following this
number. A style using this numbering format and a hanging indent worked very well. But it breaks
when exported to word. The number appears glued to the following text, so that the paragraph
lines up like this

---------------------
         ------------
         ------------

instead of like this

- ------------
         ------------
         ------------

The answer is to place, by
hand, a space and then a tab after each nuimber/initial in MS word. But shouldn't the filter do
that automatically?

Steps to repeat:
Look at the attached file in Writer, especially the sections
styled as "JB text" and related styles ("MF text" etc).

Then save it as Word
97/2000/XP.

Reopen it in one of those programs. Look at what has happened to the
JB text and related paragraphs.

Comment 4 michael.ruess 2002-12-10 12:07:00 UTC
That's right. From OpenOffice 1.1 Beta on, Writer will use another
default when exporting numberings to Word format.

Will be "fixed" for openOffice 1.1 beta. Verified with internal build.
