What do you mean with "ineffective"? I tried with 3 picture (each larger than 3
mb) and it worked. What hardware do you use? Thanks in advance.

I am sorry,I mean the speed of slide show is slow.
This issue is about the mini portable internet device,of course the
operational capability of this hardware is not excellent as notebook computer.
My colleague think his code is also useful for OOo.
Now he is exchanging the opinion with Thorsten Behrens in the mailing list and
hope to contribute the code to OOo.

in 3.21 3.3r4 setting background to a png 1600x1200 400kb screenshot
kilss performance and makes editing unusable (takes second or two to insert
letter).

15 arrowlines on this background renders in fullscreen mode for 2 or 3 seconds
on AMD Turion(tm)X2 Ultra DualCore Mobile ZM-82 2.2Gz 2GB ram, ubuntu system

turning off/on antialising, hardware acceleration does not help.

resizing screenshot image to 600 pixels width and reinserting
as background of all slides resolves problem

at the moment impress is unusable for making presentations based on
screenshots of applications keeping screen quality resolution.
