Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9599
Autopilot crashes when trying to create web page followed by report if Java not installed
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
Steps to get the bug:- 1. Install the OpenOffice without providing any Java support. 2. Open the OpenOffice Writer. 3. Go to the File Menu and Click on the Autopilot Option. 4. Select the Button named “Web Page” in the Autopilot menu. 5. We get the Window for the Web Page titled “Auto Pilot Web Page”. 6. Click on the cancel button at the bottom left of this window. 7. Again go to the File Menu and to the Autopilot Option. 8. Select the Report button in the Autopilot menu. 9. OpenOffice crashes with the message “An irrecoverable error has occurred”. Also we get the error message of some exception in some memory location and the writer application quits. Summary:- The OpenOffice writer crashes when Autopilot features are used without providing support for Java.
Krishna, thank you for using and supporting OOo. Summary: Sequence is important in this bug. If you follow the users instructions exactly, OOo will generate the "unrecoverable" error message. However, the Java not installed error message does appear. I tried just running the report autopilot, but OOo did not crash. Then I followed the users instructions again and OOo did not crash.

I couldn't reproduce it also and I tested it several times.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
