Description christian.jansen 2008-10-29 16:35:59 UTC
- Close Task Panel
- Add slide (press Slide Button in toolbar)
- Task Panel is displayed instead of staying closed.
This is very annoying.

Reproducible. Reassigned.
Comment 2 groucho266 2008-11-19 15:37:10 UTC
@CJ: This works as requested (and probably specified) by you.
Comment 3 christian.jansen 2008-11-19 15:44:31 UTC
I can't remember that I've specified such behavior. Anyhow, it should be change
to something where the user has control about it. :-) Please change the behavior
in a way that it stays closed if one closed the pane.

dupe of #55729 ?
Comment 5 groucho266 2008-12-03 09:01:50 UTC
@ nekohayo: No, issue 55729 describes a bug. The reappearance of the task panel
was once build in as a feature: Once the layout menu was a dialog that appeared
every time a new slide was created. When the layout menu was moved into the
task pane, the task pane was made visible instead.

Comment 7 matthias.mueller-prove 2008-12-03 09:35:50 UTC
96381: Each and every time I open an Impress window I have to close the task
pane. No, I don't want it. I don't need it. It just consumes screen space. If I
need it I want to be in control and open it myself and close it afterwards when
no longer needed.
=> The state of the task pane should become a persistent Impress setting.

Setting target to OOo 3.2 due to time constraints.

Someone from IBM in Zurich says: Indeed, this has annoyed me for years already;
in search of the hidden option to turn off this "feature", I came across your
post. Thanks for raising this!
Comment 11 matthias.mueller-prove 2008-12-15 15:57:09 UTC
And I like to add: For my Impress doc I have to close the task pane 4 times. My
scenario has 2 windows open to compare slides and changing between slide mode
and slide sorter gives another 2 task panes. It really takes time to arrange the
document after opening.

Definitely!
Comment 13 groucho266 2009-09-25 10:50:32 UTC

Project renaissance is working on the task panel and will take care of this issue.
Comment 15 groucho266 2011-02-08 16:09:54 UTC
Changing target.
