I uninstalled OOo1.0 then installed version 643
at the end of the install, some dlls could not be 
registered 
:
dbu643mi.dll
dbase643mi.dll
flat643mi.dll
dba643mi.dll
calc643mi.dll

OOo 
cannot be started ( complains about a missing component manager)

I can't reproduce on my WinXP Pro box. Setup is going through without
errors, OOo starts and nothing's missing. Please give a detailed
step-by-step description of what you are doing. Are you using NTFS or FAT?

Here is what I did :
* install OOo 1.0 french
* (reboot, use the app some time)
* uninstall
* install OOo version 643 (without rebooting, and in the same 
directory as the previous one)

Then the problem appears.
My computer is running XP pro on a NTFS disk.

You should install OOo 643 into a new directory. 1.0 and 643 are not
compatible.
